MINISTER MESSAGE

Minister of Transport

"Every rail project presents unique opportunities to further advance the capacity and capabilities of the local rail industry. While the primary goal is to develop infrastructure and systems that enable efficient rail services, these projects must also serve as catalysts for advancing innovation, developing talent, and empowering local players. Where there are gaps in capacity and capabilities, implementing a partnership model between local players and like-minded foreign OEMs will ensure a win-win outcome and help create a sustainable rail industry ecosystem that can effectively support the operations and maintenance of these systems throughout their life cycle. At the same time, both the Government and MARIC must work more closely to embrace advanced technologies, adopt best practices, and apply new models for financing, operations, and maintenance. The Minister supports MARIC and recognises MARIC as the official representation and voice of the rail indsutry. Rail transportation is fast becoming, if not already, the preferred mode of choice in many smart cities worldwide, and Malaysia must be prepared to position itself as a key systems provider in the global and regional rail industry. Together, we can make it happen!"

PRESIDENT MESSAGE

Datuk Dr. Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman

It gives me great pleasure to present to you the Malaysia Rail Industry Directory 2024 which provides a comprehensive view of the rail industry ecosystem and the quite extensive supply chain stakeholders in Malaysia. This directory is developed and produced in conjunction with the largest rail show in the world, Innotrans in Berlin, Germany and MARIC’s involvement in putting up a Malaysian Pavilion which for the first time showcasing our companies’ participation under one roof.

MARIC has grown from strength to strength. The number of members has grown to 65. It has position itself well in the rail ecosystem as the recognised voice of the industry and a game changer with the aspirations to transform and innovate the Malaysian rail sector. With the strong support of the industry players, Government’s agencies and universities, the collective strength being harnessed through MARIC will elevate the capability and capacity of our companies and attract more young and creative people into the rail community.

I would like to express our deepest appreciation to our outstanding partners namely Railway Assets Corporation (RAC), Malaysian Industry-Government Group of High Technology (MIGHT) and the Land Division of the Ministry of Transport, rail operators, relevant agencies and universities, for their continued support and cooperation. And, most of all, the members of MARIC who continue to serve the nation even in the most challenging circumstances, and live up to the adage “if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together”. Together, we make it happen!
